Join our staff in Fall 2007!
Whether you are a new freshman at NU or a returning undergraduate or graduate student who would like to join the WNUR News staff, we would love to help you get on board! You'll get experience at a 7200-watt station reporting, reading on-air, producing, or whatever strikes your fancy in a friendly and supportive environment. Please contact us for more information at newsdirector@wnur.org.
So
what can I do at WNUR News?
You can take part in one of our four newscasts
every weekday. You can anchor a newscast, report, or learn
how to produce a newscast.
Anchors write news copy using the Associated
Press (AP) wire, and then read it over the air.
Reporters make phone calls and do any
other needed reporting, then edit together a report (package)
for broadcast on our 5 PM evening newscast.
Producers select stories, write headlines
and other elements of newscasts, then run the soundboard
when the newscast goes on the air. They are generally
responsible for making sure each newscast goes well.
We are looking for more staff members
for any of these three roles, and if one interests you,
let us know! If you don't know what you'd like to do,
that's fine - we'll help you out.
Our newscasts are at 9:30 AM, 12:30 PM,
2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The 9:30 AM news is 10 minutes long,
and has one producer and two anchors. At 12:30 and 2:00
PM we offer 3-minute updates that employ one anchor/producer.
The WNUR Evening News at 5 PM features a producer, two
anchors, and up to two reporters.
Again, if you are at all interested in
radio news, journalism, hearing the sound of your own
voice, having other people hear the sound of your voice,
or this just sounds like fun, we want you!
Contact us at newsdirector@wnur.org.
